Customization

  • We manufacture to SAAMI, CIP, or specifications provided to us. Send us fire formed brass, chamber casting or chamber drawings and we will make your cases fit your firearm.
  • Provide us with your chamber information and we will customize known calibers to your chamber. There is a one time $100.00 dollar fitting fee.
  • We can manufacture Wildcat cartridges for you. We need exact dimensions for the cartridge and tolerances. There is a setup fee of $250.00 dollars and a minimum order of 20 pieces per design.
  • We can customize head stamps with your name or your company name. There is a $50.00 dollar setup fee and a 20 piece minimum per caliber. There is no setup fee on reorders and a 20 piece reorder per caliber.
  • We can customize barrels, receivers and other products for you. Please contact jeff@rccbrass.com to discuss further.

Manufacturing Process

  • The manufacturing of cartridges dates back to the 19 century and utilizes the draw process. The draw process using a brass ingot to produce a case. Typically, there is a 12 – 14 step process that occurs after the ingot is made. The draw process is normally four steps where large presses begin to shape and size the brass. Brass work hardens during the draw process and has to be annealed after each draw. Once the draw stages are complete then the cases move to the heading and head turn stage, where the cartridge head is completed. The next stage is the taper and plug stage and this is where the neck is formed, finished and trimmed to length. The next stage anneals the neck and the finish stage is where the brass is washed and polished for distribution.
  • The draw process of manufacturing brass cartridges has been developed since the 19th century and is more that adequate for mass production. There is a lot of machinery involved in the production process and tooling cost, set up time and production drive manufactures to produce calibers that will sell within a reasonable period of time. Therefore, calibers that are not popular become obsolete and cartridges become difficult or impossible to find. Wildcat development is extremely expensive too.

RCC Manufacturing Process

  • At RCC, we specialize in vintage, obsolete, hard to find and wildcat calibers using CNC lathes and mills. Our manufacturing process began with our brass. We had C2600 brass made into rods for machining. Our rod is hammer forged with a high tensile strength and 15% malleability for a longer life span. Our head strength is consistent from case to case and the only annealing we do is when sizing necked cartridges.
  • The first step of our process is to create a CAD/CAM file of each caliber, create machine code and run emulations. Once our engineering standards are met, we start the first stage of production, where we manufacture a cartridge and then measure it to assure it is within tolerance. If the tolerances are off, we adjust our machine code programming until they are current. When a cartridge meets our tolerances then we manufacture an order.
  • Our minimum order quantity per caliber is 20 pieces, with 10 piece increments. We offer over 1200 different calibers, plus wildcat development and custom head stamps.
