8x56Rmm Mannlicher Schoenauer

The M1895 Mannlicher was designed by Ferdinand Ritter von Mannlicher. He further developed the revolutionary straight pull bolt action used in the M1890 Mannlicher carbine for the M1895. It was used in WW I by the Austro-Hungarian military and was nicknamed the “Ruck Zuck” meaning “slap dash” and “Ruck Zuruck” meaning “jerk back”. The Italian troops called it the “Ta-Pum” and even wrote a song about it.

Originally chambered in 8x56Rmm almost all were rechambered for the more powerful 8x56Rmm cartridges in the 1930’s and was in service until the end of WW II. It is capable of propelling a .323” dia. 200 grain bullet at 2,170 fps. with 2,092 ft.-lbs. of energy.
