6.5x48Rmm Sauer

J.P. Sauer & Sohn began making firearms in Germany in 1751. In the late 1800s they had a line of high quality shotguns and drillings. Sauer developed a series of black powder cartridges specifically for drillings, as most of the cartridges of the era were not suitable for drillings. They never manufactured ammunition for there designs, but large manufactures such as DWN and Roth did. Sauer cartridges were very popular in Europe and many of them were transitioned to smokeless powder. By the late 1920s most of the Sauer cartridges were obsolete.

The Sauer cartridges are identified by their long length and unique configuration. They have a sharply tapered body and are rimmed. The 3.5x48Rmm Sauer is capable of propelling a .264” dia. 126 grain bullet at 1,155 fps with 373 ft.-lbs. of energy. It is a good target round and adequate for small game.

Roberson Cartridge Company is a custom manufacture of Vintage, Obsolete, Hard to Find and Wildcat calibers.
