.460 Steyr

Designed by Horst Grillmayer for Steyr-Mannlicher, the .460 Steyr is adapted from the .50 BMG cartridge. It is shortened and necked down to a .458 caliber and is a legal alternative for countries and states that have ban private ownership of the .50 BMG. Steyr produces the HS-460, which is a single shot bolt action rifle based upon their .50 caliber sniping system.

The .460 Steyr does not lack in performance to the .50 BMG, the .416 Barrett, the .416 TYR and other such cartridges. It is used in ELR matches throughout the world and is a favorite in countries and states where the .50 BMG is not allowed. The .460 Steyr is capable of propelling a .458” dia. 600 grain bullet at 3,000 fps with 11,996 ft.-lbs. of energy.

Roberson Cartridge Company is a custom manufacture of Vintage, Obsolete, Hard to Find and Wildcat calibers.
