45-120/125 SHARPS STRAIGHT 3 ¼”

The 45-120/125 Sharps was first introduced between 1878 and 1879 and is a straight wall cartridge. It is the largest .45 caliber Sharps cartridge measuring 3 ¼” long. The .45-120/125 is a very powerful cartridge designed for bison hunting. However, it was introduced too late to make any significant difference in the fate of the great herds.

There are two different wall thicknesses for this caliber and that is why there are two different listings. As with most black powder cartridges, the caliber if followed by the amount of powder used to propel the bullet. Here are the stats we have on both of these rounds. The .45-120/125 can propel a .457dia., 500 grain bullet at 1,520 fps with 2,561 ft.-lbs. of energy
