.44-90 Sharps Necked

The .40-90 Sharps Necked cartridge was introduces in 1873 for the Sharps side hammer model rifles. There were a lot of different bullet weights available for this rifle and they are 277, 450, 470, 500 and 520 grains, of which the 520 was the most popular. The .44-90 Sharps Necked was a popular hunting rifle and quite frequently used in 1,000 yard shooting matches. The necked cartridge is capable of propelling a .447” dia. 520 gain bullet at 1,270 fps with 1,862 ft.-lbs. of energy.
